Re: Light-Sport Aircraft Yahoo group How are we doing?

I went to Oshkosh. Seeing the Dreamliner was good. Nice machine. Also saw the new 4 place aircraft from Tecnum and Remos. actually the Tecnum was further along. The Remos was just a mock up. Unfortunately 2 people lost their lives in a J-3 Cub when they crashed into Lake Winnebago. Also has an F-16 run off the end of the runway and messed that aircraft up. Another jet ran off the end of the same runway later in the day. No injuries in either accident. Only big announcement was that Tom Porberzny was totally retiring from the EAA so for the first time in the EAA's history their will not be a Poberzny directly running the organization.  Did think we might have another Sun and Fun episode when one afternoon a cell came through kicking the wind to 40 mph. No aircraft were damaged but it tore the grounds up flipping tents, tables, papers and empty ice cream cones everywhere. Other then that it was another Oshkosh.

Take a look and fly a Luscomb 8A  they are as much fun to fly as any airplane I have ever flown and you can buy one for less than 20K.

Hello Gary,

I'm retired, so I have lots of time to pursue my many hobbies. Thirteen years ago my wife and I moved to our residential airpark so flying is obviously one of our passions. As I grow older, I recognize that someday I might not be able to be able to pass my medical, although I might still be fit to fly safely. That is what spurs my interest in S-LSAs.

I am disappointed in the high prices, in part due to glass cockpits and ballistic parachutes. But then I guess the prices are not out of line considering prices of new GA airplanes in general.

I've been to many countries throughout the world and the flight privileges and flying costs we enjoy in the USA are by far less restrictive and cheaper than anywhere else.
