While there is little chance of getting caught, logged flight time is when "for purposes of flight" is true. If you intend to only taxi, you shouldn't log it as PIC. That said, I am not all that sure several hours of taxiing is all that good of a thing. I know that I'd get bored and start stretching the definition of taxiing within 1/2 hour or less. I'd be taxiing with the tail up in no time, expand my ground acrobatics, and probably swap ends at some point. Then after patching the wing tip, I'd see how she flew. Perhaps that is just me? =)~  --Bill

I decided I will not try to fly it until I have several hours of taxi testing, to the point that I feel comfortable "driving" it on the ground.
My question is, can/should I log this taxi hours as PIC time? On one hand, this is not flying. On the other, I am gaining proficiency in the ground handling of an aircraft that has a reputation for being very sensitive to control inputs.

Light-Sport Aircraft Yahoo group Logging taxi time?

I use those also Helen, and they really do help. You need to make sure no
other mike is plugged into the intercom, or has a muff on it as well. When
flying alone I found most of the noise went away when I unplugged the
passengers mike cord.
