I am an owner of a Carlson Sparrow and an MXL Sport. I am currently looking for a Kolb Firestar or Fierfly. Prefere one in flying condition. Please not a basket case. Any info would be appreciated. |
There a still lots of single seaters out there that don't qualify as ultralight because of the weight but ARE being "flown as ultralight" .
I didn't ask if it was a legal UL, only if he intended to "fly it AS an ultralight." ;-)
IIRR some of the earlier ones with lighter engines might have actually stayed within the legal UL weight limit.
Optional engine for FAR Part 103 aircraft (and possibly even some larger / heavier - light sport aircraft). The 36.5 HP Polini Thor 250 Dual Spark, Water Cooled, Aircraft engine weighs 35 to 50 pounds less (+/-) than a Rotax 477 (depending on the Rotax 447 setup), and the 36.5 HP Polini Thor 250 Dual Spark, Water Cooled, Aircraft engine uses substantially less fuel, but has similar power output, and is substantially smoother and quieter than the Rotax 447 (& 503). The 36.5 HP Polini Thor 250 Dual Spark, Water Cooled, Aircraft engine has been very popular with Powered Paraglider ("PPG") pilots for quite a while. Please click on links below for more information.
