Re: Light-Sport Aircraft Yahoo group Exp/AB from "used components" (NOT Lawn ornaments)

Good point about the "built from parts" deally Richard, I did read an article where they said that you can't take a Cessna wing assembly and attach it to another fuselage and call it Exp A/B.

And Bob even gave a real FAA document to look at. Excellent.
http://www.faa.gov/licenses_certificates/aircraft_certification/aircraft_registry/media/8050-88.pdf

The aircraft in question IS on the FAA's approved list for Exp A/B kit-built airplanes, BTW.
So maybe option (2) would apply for this plane?:
"More than 50% of the above-described aircraft was built from a kit (prefabricated parts) and I am the owner. The bill of sale from
the kit manufacturer is attached. (This option is for amateur-built aircraft.)"
The bill of sale from the manufacturer for the mod drawings and the bill of sale from the parts donor aircraft could work?

When I built my Exp A/B , I had a bill of sale from the guy that bought the original wing kit (on the approved kit list BTW) and reciepts for raw materials for the rest of the plane that I fabricated from the manufacturers drawings. In my case, I had to contact the manufacturer and transfer the serial number on the drawings over to my name to show tracability back to the manufacturer.
