Re: Light-Sport Aircraft Yahoo group Re: Rod Machado's new Sport Pilot book is out!



I appreciate the complaint and wish it was easier, but I also think it would be an interesting exercise to have the people who complain about how much there is to know write the exam and set the standard of performance.  Keeping in mind, of course, that the person they are turning loose with a license is legal to take your daughter or son across the country in an airplane.  What should a person be expected to know to do that?

How many pages of material in the Gleim kits, or the FAA documentation (Airplane Flying Handbook, FAR/AIM, Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge, etc)?

Rod's writing style may not be for everyone. The real savings in SP is the number of hours it takes to get the certificate... not necessarily the "amount of stuff you need to know". There are some things you don't need to know for SP vs Private of course, but I think its safe to say you need to know "most" stuff.
