Bill,
I answered this earlier thinking it was a trike list question and just realized I'm looking at LS Aircraft.  If you are talking fixed wing, then you are correct.  I had trikes on the brain when I made my comment about having a PP license and EAA waiver.

If his CFIis for SP only then the dual hours will not count for a PP certificate.

Even if he doesn't currently hold a CFI for PP?

If your flight instructor is certified for both sport and private then you have no problem. If he is only a port pilot instructor then under the current rules as they are understood then the hours will not count towards a private.

Whoa whoa whoa!  So what does that mean exactly?  I'm about ready to do my check-ride for my Sport license and would like for my training to count towards to PP license.  I'd have to get all sorts of new dual training time?
