The Precision PAI-700 Vertical Card Compass is made in the USA and sells for around $270 and the other looks like a PAI-700 copy, is made in China, and can be purchased for significantly less money. If you have any experience with either of these and are able to offer information or an opinion it would be much appreciated.

Yes, I had one of the cheaper ones in the Zodiac. It worked fine, and well worth the money. No problems over the 5 years that I had the plane.
I like it better than a whiskey compass because of the visual layout of the numbers surrounding the airplane. It's a breeze to find the relative direction of any compass heading. Real handy when reporting "12 miles north-east of the field".
