Richard,

That's disproved by the people who've tried to take off too heavy,
couldn't lift off, ran off the runway at high speed, crashed and maybe
burned.

I KNEW one good guy to whom that happened. I didn't know the pilot with
whom he was riding who at least died immediately, without the days of
agony in the hospital Jack suffered before death.

Full tanks is NOT the only safe way to fly.

KNOW your plane, KNOW your fuel situation and BE SURE you get on the
ground with sufficient reserves. I kind of like the Civil Air Patrol
rule I heard of: If you ever land without the required reserves on
board, you are grounded for a very long time if not forever.
