Agreed. The only private pilot "stuff" that you don't need to know for sport is VOR/NDB. The regulations are actually more complicated for sport than private and the PTS requirements as they pertain to navigation are more difficult.

How many pages of material in the Gleim kits, or the FAA documentation (Airplane Flying Handbook, FAR/AIM, Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge, etc)?
Rod's writing style may not be for everyone. The real savings in SP is the number of hours it takes to get the certificate... not necessarily the "amount of stuff you need to know". There are some things you don't need to know for SP vs Private of course, but I think its safe to say you need to know "most" stuff.
