I'm thinking that in all those months, a few phone calls and a long drive would
have completed the SP certificate is 'gig time' rather than over 1/2 year.

I cannot say much, I''ve been trying to acquire the SP certificate in WSC since '04.
None of the SP CFIs will take me in my trike (their trikes will not handle the
weight in the front seat) for the practical test.
The SP CFIs will not use my trike for several reasons. The usual reasons are it
does not have a complete set of dual controls nor parachute.
