NEW OWNER FOR NATION'S LARGEST LIGHT SPORT FLIGHT SCHOOL
New planes, more instructors, and a new flying club mark begining of a new era for Chesapeake Sport Pilot

Stevensville, MD – April 11th marked the beginning of a new era for the nation's largest light sport flight school, Chesapeake Sport Pilot, as Chief Flight Instructor Helen Woods took the reins as owner and manager of the award winning school.

"We started CSP in 2006 and Helen was a big part in helping us become one of the premier flight training schools in the country," explained former CSP owner Tim Adelman.  "We focused on grass roots aviation and helped rekindle the spirit of flying.  We are very excited to see Helen continue this tradition."

Plans for the school include increasing its size by bringing in more planes, hiring more flight instructors and hiring a full time mechanic. "We will be continuing to offer high quality primary training in our high-wing Tecnam Eaglets and low-wing RV-12s" explained Woods.  "We will also be expanding our introductory flight program in our Sky Arrows for those who would like a taste of flying either for a personal thrill, a gift for another, or a chance to try out lessons before making the commitment.  We will also continue to grow our Searey seaplane training program which is the first and only of its kind in the nation."

Perhaps the greatest change for Chesapeake Sport Pilot is their plan to establish a flying club for rated pilots. A flying club is basically a large multiple ownership program for aircraft where a group of pilots own one or more planes together. "A flying club allows rated pilots to have better access to a more diverse fleet of aircraft and an ability to take the planes on long trips while keeping costs down," explained Woods. "This sort of thing is difficult in a flight school as students are constantly using the school planes.  Establishing a flying club gives our graduates the freedom to fly that they seek after earning their pilot certificates with us"

Chesapeake Sport Pilot is the nation's largest light sport flight school. CSP has provided more than 20,000 hours of light sport flight instruction over the past eight years and was recognized in 2014 as one of the top ten flight schools of any kind in the nation by the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.  CSP is currently enrolling new students for the spring semester.
