I believe that is going to be the last flight of the shuttles or at least that is the schedule at present. In a message dated 4/25/2010 8:21:14 P.M. Pacific Daylight Time, LyleCox@funaerosports.com writes:
Wow…Brian…gonna fly light sport all down there? Which one? Evektor, Remos, Gobosh?
Only advice I have is be prepared to wait past the scheduled date. Not many of them go off on schedule.

My wife and I are working on planning a trip into Titusville, FL (KTIX) coming this September to see the Space Shuttle go off. Beyond the obvious fact that I need to get in there well ahead of the launch (for possible TFR's), has anyone on the list here done any sort of flying around in that part of the country (FL) that might have some helpful tips for flying in there?
I know it's a ways out, but this will easily be my longest x-country trip that I'll have taken to date (coming in from CO) and I want to make sure that I'm as prepared as I can be.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Brian

That will be the in the heart of hurricane season in that part of the country. Being based in Colorado your current insurance policy might not cover or provide any "extras" if you have to relocate while your hanging out down there. Some insurance policies even pay you for the costs involved if you have to move your plane to avoid an approaching storm. At any rate, since you have the time you might want to talk to your insurance company about the trip. Sounds like a real adventure. Be ready to watch an awful lot of very flat land for a change. Your wife may want to bring a book. I encourage anybody travelling cross-country in a light plane to become familiar with the following web link that graphically depicts the expected turbulence outlook: http://www.wunderground.com/Aviation_Maps/Turbulence/FL50-12.html#a_topad Had I done the proper pre-flight planning (and been aware of this web site) I could have avoided an unpleasant ride, a lot of rental car expense and a sick wife during a trip from Mississippi to South Carolina earlier this year. Safe travels.
