Re: Light-Sport Aircraft Yahoo group

Im building a single seat cgs hawk. I want to get a sport pilot license with training in a plane that has similar flight characteristics, does anyone know of any training suitable for my situation.
=============================================

Are you on the yahoo hawk list?

A S-CFI or CFI can teach in a loaned 2 seat hawk, or 2 seat anything with a N number, ESLA or Experimental, he / she just can't charge a fee for the airplane. Ask around if anyone with a giving heart and a good CFI they trust in their plane to  give you a few hours dual. A few high dollar dinners (not mickkieD's) for the owner and his or her spouse might do the trick. A hawk isn't a difficult airplane to master. Just use a little power, land long until you get a comfortable feeling setting her down, when you get ready for your single seater. You might find a hawk flyer in your area that will fly your plane around the patch a few times to give you confidence it'll fly okay.

The hawk flys simular to the Challenger but without the tail waggle.

JB CFI

Light-Sport Aircraft Yahoo group Re: flight training in appropriate airplane

I trained in QuickSilver Sports and a Challenger II - I think the Hawk handles more like the Quicks (big tails and all), but the landing viewpoint is much more like the Challenger.

Either way, the Hawk single seat I had was extremely stable, went right where I pointed it, and was very easy to fly first time up given the 20hrs experience I had at the time.

Light-Sport Aircraft Yahoo group OT: Free Rockets to Fly and Flying Day in Pueblo, CO

I know generally pilots don't like to fly around rockets but there is an aerospace related event gong on in Pueblo, Colorado in early August. It is called NARAM 52 (National Association of Rocketry Annual Meet) and will host over two hundred "rocketeers" from all over the nation. On July 31 and 1 August there will be a free "Take It and Fly It" event for the first 175 children who have never flown a model rocket before. Please spread the word with any family members, Civil Air Patrol, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4-H, Boys and Girls Club, and any other youth organization you may know of or be in contact with.

You are always welcome to come down to pueblo and watch the events. Visit www.peakcity.org and click on the schedule to see what competition events are being flown. This will be the first NARAM to involve High Power Rocket (HPR) contests and should be very interesting.

I look forward to seeing you there.

NAR Section #632
www.scronline.net

WHO: The National Association of Rocketry (NAR) and its subordinate chapters Southern Colorado Rocketeers (SCORE NAR Section #632 www.scronline.net) and NAR Section #2 (Peak City www.peakcity.org)

WHAT: are sponsoring the "Take It and Fly It" Program. The first 175 children and young adults who have not flown a model rocket before, will get an opportunity to fly a built "ready to fly" rocket.

WHERE: At the Hudson Ranch Launch site for SCORE located 9.5 miles South West of Pueblo Colorado on Colorado 78 (Beulah Highway). Go to http://www.scronline.net/html/flying_site.html for a map to the location of the launch.

WHEN: 31 July and 1 August 2010 from 9 AM to 4 PM or when supply of free rockets runs out. There will be other launches being conducted all day for the public to view.

COST: The cost is free for those participating in the "Take It and Fly It" program. Donations to SCORE are greatly appreciated.

We flew 3 trikes from Tampa FL to Cushing field IL.
Had gun flying at Cushing today
Tomorrow is supposed to be a very nice day here
Oshkosh is literally closed with no one allowed to go in as it is under water

yesterday 2 trikes flipped over in severe gusts and storms

Larry participated in the comps and Revo clocked 113 mph with a radar gun and
also won the 3 quickest takeoffs and landings in a box comp in a new record time

I flew 4 guys who came from Israel for Oshkosh and wanted to fly the Revo
Don Cooney gave an interesting video presentation about his and Eddie Smith's
work with archeologists in Cambodia. Very interesting stuff and nice videos.

Light-Sport Aircraft Yahoo group Re: flight training in appropriate airplane

Have you tried the Hawk list http://groups.yahoo.com/group/cgshawk/ ?

The other option is to get SP training in as close a aircraft as possible then take a short transition training to the hawk.

I took my SP training in a M-Squared Breeze II to fly my Quicksilver Sprint single. Then I bought a CGS Hawk Arrow II and had my instructor transition my in to that.

The Hawk flew so well, we only flew for a hour session. His only charge was to let him take his wife up flying in my Hawk.

Light-Sport Aircraft Yahoo group Buying a used part 103 trike in Canada and bring it back to USA?

How hard is it to cross the border to buy a part 103 trike and bring it back to the US? What are the issues? Tariffs? Forms needed for either side. Any help would be appreciated. Trying to find out through the Border Patrol and Customs has been difficult to say the least. Thanks, Will

Light-Sport Aircraft Yahoo group ELSA Repairman Course in Atlanta Area October 2-3

Folks,

FYI, we have scheduled another of our experimental light-sport aircraft (ELSA) repairman courses for fixed-wing airplanes here in the Atlanta area on October 2-3, 2010.

The course qualifies fixed-wing ELSA owners or future owners-to-be for an FAA Light-Sport Repairman- Inspection certificate. That certificate authorizes them to perform and sign off the annual condition inspection on their ELSA, thus saving the cost and trouble of finding an A&P mechanic willing to work on unusual airplanes.

A discounted course tuition of $350 is available to EAA, USUA, Sport Aircraft Yahoo group members. Non-member tuition is $400.

For more information or to register, please phone or email us. We also invite you to visit the LSA Repairman Course page of our website listed below.

Thanks!
