Light-Sport Aircraft Yahoo group Re: Fwd: New ASTM Course on Light Aircraft Certification

:). Yeah $99 sounded to good to be true.
Also, this course is not FAA sanctioned. Its an interpretation of ASTM F37 members etc. of what ASTM standards require. Its not FAA's interpretation and in the end the only interpretation of the standards specially QA/Production standard that matters is the one by the FAA. ASTM standards try not to be prescriptive and that basically means FAA can interpret them as they like and they like Part 23 PC systems and ISO 9001. So you would be better off learning Part 23 Production Certification requirements or an ISO 9001 QA System implementations.

An ERP system for work order based manufacturing and a router system would help get through FAA than what ASTM members think FAA wants.
FAA is not happy till you are not happy :).

Light-Sport Aircraft Yahoo group Re: Fwd: New ASTM Course on Light Aircraft Certification

I believe this course may be at first in Europe (Aviation Exp[o in Germany). Its focused more on production/QA/Contd AW side than Design standards. The QA standard currently is category specific. Different for airplanes than say PPC or WSC. However, FAA is not buying that and wants a harmonized QA and Continued Airworthiness standard which makes sense.

FREE Mdot safty seminar with cash door prizes . feb 16th  at dalton AP flushing MI eaa chapter 77. start time is 12:00 noon the topic will be 10 things every VFR pilot should know.  Wings points will be available for this program.  also a presentation on EAB  annual inspections  presented by Dennis Demeter,a columnist for aviation magazines  and guest speaker at several state  safety conferences.  this safety seminar is the kick off for the states oldest and  largest light sport and ultralight club celebrating its 25 year, the Michigan ultralight & Lightsport association "MULA" plans to attend several fly-ins and airport events this summer.  MULA's annual fly-in, held at Purdy field near flint bishop airport, will be the largest state wide light sport event since the national KIMO competitions were held in Marshall, MI in 2006. • Analyze a sample Quality Assurance Record, Quality Assurance Manual, manufacturing process document and compliance checklist to determine they are complete and meet standards requirements
  • Analyze the effects of making changes to an aircraft design; determine what limitations, if any, the change would require, and show documentation
