RE: Light-Sport Aircraft Yahoo group Re: A starting point

alan, echoing ralph's comments I started flying lessons in a cessna 152 way
back in 1982 but, as so often happens, life got in the way and I never went
back to finish. flash forward 30-years and now, at age 62 (soon to be 63)
I'm about 10-days from my LSA check ride. even though my instructor is
working me pretty hard I love every minute I'm in the air. I can't
encourage you enough to get started on making your dream come true. the
best way to proceed is not to lurk about the airfield...call or stop by and
see if they have a LSA program (not every flight school or field does) and
if they do take a short discovery flight. if you want to own a piper then
by all means train in a tail dragger. but whatever you choose don't
procrastinate. good luck.

Years ago when men cursed and beat the Earth with sticks it was known as
witchcraft. Today it's known as golf!

Alan, it's never too late to start. I didn't start flying until age 40
(mid-life crisis), and now have been flying for over 26 years. I started
flying R/C models and it progressed to ordering a Kolb Firestar kit in 1986.
I had never built anything before, except airplane models, so it was a
challenge. Needless to say, that Firestar kit has been flying all this time.
Five years ago I bought a Kolb Kolbra. I'm the guy that produced the
"Rushford fly-in" video. I went and got my Sport license to fly it and it
has been a dream come true. I absolutely love flying especially when I can
share it with friends and family. My advice is to pursue your dream and you
will never regret it.
