>The only obvious requirements AFAIK beyond what I (and I presume you) have met as an experienced sport pilot are taking the PP knowledge exam, doing a night cross country flight WITH a CFI , some minimal instrument flying practice, and showing up for a checkride and Q&A session with a DPE.
Longer cross country, and a few little things like that.
>For example.... You would be showing up for a private pilot checkride with a DPE having no student license. Would that seem odd or unacceptable to the DPE?
Did you fly the plane to the checkride? If so, yes, that would be an issue, because you can't solo a plane without a properly endorsed/valid student pilot certificate.
>And you would be able to fly all your day cross country PPL requirements in your LSA without any CFI signing you off to solo. ... Might seem odd to to the CFI?
Yes, acceptable.
>Curious if and when your CFI has (or will) sign you off to solo the Skyhawk?
Before the 1st time you solo it, before cross country trips, and every 90 days... no different than the sport pilot days
>And, if you tell a DPE you only intend to fly under sport pilot limitations (as any private pilot is permited to do without a current medical) could you show up for your checkride without a current medical?
Not if you are taking a checkride for Private.
