For those not running the Rotax 912 engine in their plane may not be aware of the diminishing availability of amps as more consumables are turned on.  The 912 puts out about 24 amps.  It does not take long to use up the available amps especially when the high amp draw of an incandescent landing light is used.  Couple that with incandescent nav lights then strobes in addition to communications equipment and you are soon upside-down and running on battery to keep things going.  Running upside-down too long and the battery can no longer keep up then things start to shut down, like the radio etc.  Using LED landing, Nav and strobe lights helps to avoid this problem.

Yes, I've been seeing prices around $300.

I think the amps saved could be around 6A.
eg; 8A for incandescent, maybe 2A for LED....

So... one might have to ask... how important
is that 6A to us?... are we short of electricity?
