RES: Light-Sport Aircraft Yahoo group So much for Cessna

I Agree 100% with you

Here in Brazil the Experimental category is being attacked and killied  by Aviation Agency in Brazil who have no idea on how to hangle the transition.

They simply copy  the FAR and publish it. Right now there are hundreds of employees being fired every week because that decision, without cirteira.

The bigs ones are happy..

Only feel manufacturers are ready fro LSA, but customers also don't understand exactaly why the differece..

It looks like LOST series..

Hey Bob, Nice to 'see' you.
I have to chiime in here - There are many factors that lead to Cessna's decision, (decision to manufacture outside of the USA, manufacturing delays, the spin issue, significantly increased coast, marginal useful load - though typical in the GA world - wing spar AD, and on and on). I think their decision to stop the Skycatcher will be good for the LSA industry.
With only a couple hundred registration for 2013 split between around 100 manufacturers, it's amazing anyone is in business (except that MANY of the people "in business" are just importers and not running a "real" business where there is a support structure, customer interaction after the sale, Continuing Airworthiness and such.
So as attrition of the manufacturers continues, those that have hung in there will have better opportunities to prosper. I am amazed, that after so many years, there are still so many LSA manufacturers - I really thought a shake out would occur earlier on.
LSA will survive (and hopefully prosper) because, for those that can afford to be in the budget range, its the only place to get new hardware and new technology in the panel (that is not the same cost as the airframe), and burn 4-5 gph., and cool looking airplanes. May sound silly, but there is some truth there.
And I'll go further to suggest that the new 4 place aircraft coming out from FD, Tecnam, Pipistrel and others will have a major impact on the existing GA 4 place market for many of the same reasons. The new 'LSA evolved' 4 seaters are coming from manufacturers that know how to build to ASTM standards instead of Part 23 (another reason Cessna had a difficulties in this market.) and the LSA manufacturers understand their market pretty well. A new 172 is about $375,000 base, I believe, but I bet over $400,000 once you get it where you want it, The new 4 seaters are hovering around the $250,000 mark.....
We'll see!
Rome wasn't built in a day, and, these are real exciting times in this area of aviation!
