Re: Light-Sport Aircraft Yahoo group Re: sport pilot training in challenger or quicksilver

Yes, I had the DaVinci robotic surgery and the PSA for over 4 years has been <0.1. The PSA was not a requirement of the physical and my choice so if I had elected to not have it done no one would have been the wiser and there would have been no problem until I was advanced to the point of no return. The SODA requires a full report by the treating doctor every year which would not be a real problem, just money and for the life of me I do not understand how this helps anything. You should be able to retain the medical If you want to continue at that level. I just chose to simplify to what fits me better. I still have my follow ups and as I earlier stated have a full DOT physical. I truly beleive there are countless pilots who have died from problems that could have been cured if they had not been reluctant to seek medical attention because of the physical. Cheaper operation is also a big issue as retirement in a very few years will put more restriction on the fun budget and if health is not an issue I am sure the point will come where I have to hang it up but I hope to put that off as long as possible. Sport pilot can be good for your health because you are usually squeezed for useful load and the cheapest gain is dieting off a few unneeded pounds.

Greetings Lyn,
I total agree with your assessment of Private vs LSA.  I have a private but will go back with a LSA aircraft of some sort.  (Anyone know of any good used Challengers ?  )
From you description of "you would die of something else" you must have had PCa?
I had but was successfully treated. Or so far anyway. 3 years after treatment psa is >.1 .
I will not seek a new medical for my Private Lic., but what is the medical hassle?
David d.
