Light-Sport Aircraft Yahoo group Re: Hand controls

The Sky Arrow 600 is available with factory installed hand controls. It places the rudder and throttle on a T-Handle on the left side of the cockpit. It takes about 5 seconds to remove the T-Handle and convert it back to conventional controls. There is room under the back seat for a broken down wheelchair. Hand brake levers are located on the right console next to the stick. The controls become very intuitive after a very short time
We've instructed 8 initial students and one return to fly pilot all requiring the hand controls due to spinal cord injury. All but one has been an Ableflight scholar. One is still in training and the other 7 earned there Sport Pilot Certificate. One young man is actually classified as a quadriplegic because of the level of his injury. I signed Sean O'Donnells 8710 so he could take is PP check in his Sky Arrow. All have been able to enter the aircraft with little to no assistance. I'll be happy to email you some pictures of the controls if you want them.

We are currently working on hand controls for the FK 9 and hope to have them approved by Airventure. As has been said, Ableflight and Wheelchair Aviators are great resources. If you want to try a Sky Arrow with the handcontrols, contact us at www.hansenairgroup.com or www.phillysportpilot.com
