Re: Light-Sport Aircraft Yahoo group Sport Cruiser became entangled in trolley wire over San Diego on Wednesday

You have to remember, we put a heck of a lot of hours on these planes
too. I'm guessing that's one incident about every 700 hours or so. I
suspect most SLSA owners haven't yet put that many hours on their plane
to see if anything bad happens. I also beleive it has a lot to do with
people not getting the latch fully engaged. The pins on the Sky Arrow
canopy expand and contract with temperature and need to be adjusted with
the temperature for the latch to fully engage. In all cases when I
querried the pilot he was not sure how snug the latch was when he departed.
