Light-Sport Aircraft Yahoo group Re: THE SAFER LANDING PATTERN METHOD

I just don't care for that approach.

1) That's a long time to be blind to traffic on final, specifically in a low-wing plane. Rolling our for at least a brief moment on base gives you a chance for one final glance to spot that plane you didn't see while on downwind.

2) I don't like artificially limiting bank in the pattern (within reason). Students who are taught to never bank more than xº will be more likely to skid the plane to accomplish turns they need in the pattern. I'm not saying to go crazy with 60º banks in the pattern, but just to keep some flexibility.
