Subject: Light-Sport Aircraft Yahoo group Re: RV-12 experiencesYes I have flown the RV12 recently with Mitch Lock of Vans. It is a very stable and smooth flying airplane. I have flown in several LSA's like the Skyarrow, tecnam sierra and Eaglets, and the Sportcruiser. I feel that the RV12 flies the best, great visibility as you sit a little in front of the low wing. The avionics package is great, it integrates the 496 with the sl40 radio and the dynon. And it will have a dyon skyview in the near future which is an amazing piece of avionics.
Another safety feature I liked was the autopilot, it has a mode where if you tap the AP button twice it will execute an 180 degree turn while maintaining altitude, this in case you would fly into a cloud. Off course this will never happen to us sport pilots ;-) but I liked the option. It is kinda liek a BRS parachute, you should never need it but it is great when you have it.
Between Mitch and me we had 445 lbs + fuel and we still easily made 120 knts airspeed
I am getting my workshop ready at the moment, I have the toolkit already and very soon I will be ordering the first kit.
