At least I don't remember anything about TBO may be he did say something.
I look at all these technologies with interest but caution. Its very easy to talk, its much harder to actually do a proof of concept and it takes, guts, balls, glory, a lot of money and a humongous amount of more work to actually make things into a product and then its takes about the same amount of effort as above to -brand- it, get people talking about it and actually sell the product.
My best is still on battery powered electrical to deliver first on a LSA with a real 2.5 hours of endurance and practical flight. This will probably happen first on trikes (remember the Electra Flyer before everyone jumped on the band wagon). The reason is simple. Trikes in their cruise phase do not use anything like 75% of power. So they are easier to tackle. Once more refinements are made it will probably end up in LSA airplanes (not gliders but airplanes).

The US Army experimented with the tip jet helo back in the late 40's and early 50's and scrappped the idea because, among other things, jet engines would start or elongate after a while and lose efficiency. It was kind of like a glass blower swinging a lump of hot glass around on the end of a blow pipe. For decades now these things have popped up in the back of magazines as projects you could buy plans for. They were said to be powered by a variety of fuels from alcohol to propane. The idea isn't new, and in reading his web site it seems to be long on claims short on products, and quiet frankly, some of the stuff he's claiming in there looks to be very closely related to cow pies.
