I would have to say the same of all the other nice-sounding theories that
we've seen tossed around over the last couple of weeks.

It's not that nobody else thought of them yet, quite the contrary. They have
been tried and found lacking. These ideas have all been around for decades,
and tried out by thousands of different folks, from multi-national
conglomerates to the backyard experimenter. Some have worked beautifully,
some have been big flops. BUT... if the lone "thinker" doesn't avail himself
of the data gleaned from all these others' experiments, he'll be trying to
re-invent the perpetual motion machine.
ALL the great ideas have evolved from other great ideas.

Reminds me of the sign that hangs on the door of one of my classrooms: If
you think training is expensive, try ignorance!
