Richard, you appear to insult both the LSA/SP situation and the UL
situation at the same time.
(how can this be?... that one has loathing for both?)
Comparing the UL situation in 1998 with the SP situation today,
I'd rate 1998 as better.
Incidentally, I was an Ultralight Instructor, and the requirements
were about 65 to 100 hours of experience, training specifically
to -be- an instructor, a flight test with an AFI (about $300),
and IIRC $100/year to an Org, on top of the $40/yr for membership of the Org.
Your claim of "$40 a pop" is significantly incorrect.
