Light-Sport Aircraft Yahoo group Re: Sport pilot checkride advice

David,

I just did my checkride on Aug 30 of this year. My problem was i always had a reason for not scheduling the check ride. My instructor wanted to use a certian person and he told me how this guy was right to the book and if I was the next person that he needed to fail to make his 20% failure rate it didnt matter how well I did I was going to fail. Well my wife finally told me one day that I needed to get this flying thing done because I was to old to be a student the rest of my life,so I went out to the airport when the DE was out there and sat down and talked for a while. After about one min. I realized that it was just me that was holding things up. I scheduled my check ride , studied ,practiced, etc. You know the routine you are doing it right now. The day came great weather , sunny cool with a little overcast. The oral went just like you think it will if you know the material it goes pretty quick. The flying portion the nerves kicked in and I did some things really good and some things not so good. When I did things not so good sometimes we did them again or he just made some notes. Then came my short field landing and I blew it! My De told me to take the plane back to the FBO, well I thought I was done and I would be coming back to take this again. We went in to the flight training room and started to do our debrief and thats when I realized that most all DE are not here to fail you but to PASS you.
The reason for this windy reply was to tell you my story so that you can realize that you don't need to strive for perfection. If you do something wrong and know why it was wrong you are right! Get the check ride scheduled you will do fine !
