OK, I am not proud of it but I failed my 1st check ride...we took off and my door pops open on takeoff..no problem, I climb out and shut it...do all the flight work...no problem...go to land and I am very long, so I do a go-around...line up again..same problem..damn...and he says.." Go home,I have to fail you"...NEVER checked the wind sock...landing WITH the wind, not into the wind..TWICE !!!...he says you did great, just testItist...came back 2 weeks later and slam-dunk pass....you MIGHT fail...but you will NEVER land without checking the runway to use....NEVER....and you get to take it over and over....don't freak over this....IF you don't feel ready, keep flying and work your instructor...feel weak in 1-2 areas ? work them over and over...I felt weak on crosswinds....spent EVERY stormy/windy day doing touch and gos until a crab was more natural than a calm day.....you have wanted this, don't wuss out, I KNOW you can do this....if you couldn't. you would have quit many hours ago....do it ASAP

To suppose that the eye, with all its inimitable contrivances for adjusting the focus to different distances, for admitting different amounts of light, and for the correction of spherical and chromatic aberration, could have been formed by natural selection, seems, I freely confess, absurd in the highest possible degree.
