Re: Light-Sport Aircraft Yahoo group THE SAFER LANDING PATTERN METHOD

I could find no reference to the landing pattern below in the FAA's Airman's
Information Manual, but I found numerous to the standard pattern that has a base leg.
See AIM 4-3-2. I also found references to the advantage of all pilots doing the same
thing so each other knows what the other is doing.

Low wings block inbound traffic while banking left hand turns, and high wings lose
sight of the runway while in the same turns. The wings level in the middle gives one
last shot at seeing someone who you didn't think was there.

Also at an uncontrolled field, you are making a radio call (base) while continuing a
20-30 degree turn. Might be a good way to screw up an otherwise wonderful turn.
Generally the FAA seems to avoid prescribing radio calls while your wings are not
level.
