Gee, I'm not even sure you'd get a decent 3g signal at altitude. Cell phone voice/data antennas tend to radiate their signals horizontally, for coverage near the ground.

In theory, that's for communicating (phoning FSS perhaps) while warming up the engine. Headset companies are not promoting this as a way to "use your cell phone while flying".
