> I am getting the feeling that people are confusing terms. I thought ELSA and SLSA were being talked about, and then E-AB got tossed into the mix. You can’t take anything and turn it into an E-AB. If you build from scratch (plans built), no problem, but if you take an existing aircraft model (SLSA, for example) and assemble the parts yourself, that doesn’t necessarily qualify it to be registered as an E-AB. The reason there are a zillion RV’s out there is that they have been approved as a kit. I built a trike once that came that way, in a box of about a million pieces. It was not an approved kit so I could not register E-AB. A couple of years later, I built an Air Cam which came in maybe less pieces because I had the fuselage prebuilt to save time and it was registered E-AB because it was an approved kit. (Disclaimer: The numbers were made up because that’s about how it feels sometimes. haha Exact numbers wasn’t the point.)
