Take it easy bikerider1959.
We're on your side.
I've seen many Ultralight and Sport Pilots, and very few of them are "Ken".
;-)

The medical costs about $100, and takes about half an hour.
It's just to check that it's reasonable for you to be out there
flying above others.... that your eyes work, legs work, etc.
It shouldn't be a show-stopper, but if it is, then maybe that's
a show that -should- have been stopped.

And obviously.... if you weigh more,
then you need to be in a bigger airplane....
Ultralights not really right for you.

The $100 for the medical -cannot- be a show stopper,
because you'd need many more 100s to participate in the sport.
It's a bit like yachting....
I recall a yachtsman,
keen to tell me what yachting is about...  he said,
"picture yourself standing in a shower of cold water and tearing up $20 bills!"

.... so what can we learn from that?....
You have to start with your -first- $20 bill.

Cheers,
Mike
;-)

(that was long ago... it's probably $100 bills now)
