Re: Light-Sport Aircraft Yahoo group Cracked, with gun, was: Video: FAA resol...

Hi Jim,
You don't need to go away and shut up, but I don't think it's necessarily helpful to call people stupid simply because their taste varies from yours.  Some people spend over $100,000 for a car.  That doesn't make them stupid, it simply means they choose to spend their money on different things than I would.  In fact, it might be argued that people who spend over $100,000 on a car generally isn't stupid at all, but generally smart enough to have saved the money to purchase some nice things.  One might say the same thing about someone who buys a P-51 or even a 912 powered trike.  Mike and Olivier fly across the North Atlantic.  Their engine of choice was the 912.  One can argue whether they were stupid or smart on a lot of levels, haha, but many people are choosing the engine and I doubt they are all stupid.

You are right, I was thinking more of VW, Corvair, GO and other  auto engine conversions, I understand a GO cost  about $1,500.00 and some of the Corvairs only $1,000.00  for KR-2 aircraft and the Go are used on many of the triks.  Thr first trik to fly had a 15 HP engine and cost about $100.00 and was built by Barry Palmer but he did not weigh 300 pounds and that was a few years ago and it did not go 100 MPH either, it was more like 35 or 40 MPH and he never left the airport. So I don't know anyone stupid enough to pay $18,000.00 for an engine to go on a trik even in this day and time and even if it does go 100 MPH so I am out of my class so I will go away and shut up.
Jim

You can get off your high horse. Your the one who wants to insult people and talk trash who are just doing their job as best they can with the limitations they have. You know even police have to go by the law. Sorry about your trike but obviously there is more to the story then what you are telling here for some guy to be pulling a gun on you. Since you handled it without the police then why are you getting on them about the issue. Small claims or not it is still a civil issue and not a criminal issue. If I were you maybe I would not use that guy again in the future

?"Get off your high horse"?

A $9000 dollar trike and a $4400 engine is not a small claims action.
And the subsequent negotiated deal did get our stuff the next day.
Do try to keep up with the thread rather than flying off the handle when any of your
'hot buttons' gets pressed.

BTW:
We were not on his property.
Do you think it is a civil, non criminal, activity to use your gun to menace the
traffic out on the street?
The police saw it as a criminal activity and charged the dealer with a criminal
offense.
