Re: Light-Sport Aircraft Yahoo group Top 10 causes of GA accidents -

Hello
Something seems to be missing
If accidents refer to the NTSB unplanned landings in which a report is lodged you missed fuel both run out and unavailable ( fuel in tank but not usable due to design attitude or selection) and mechanical failures (both engine and airframe) There is also a significant number of escalation of the outcome where the initial issue mainly fuel or engine out is badly managed

Top 10 causes of GA accidents seem to be no different than top 10 causes for trike accidents but perhaps the order of these would be different.

1. Maneuvering – loss of control in flight
2. Initial Climb – loss of control in flight
3. Maneuvering, low altitude flying – aerodynamic stalls, spins
4. Maneuvering, low altitude flying – low altitude operation/event
5. Enroute-cruise – controlled flight into terrain (CFIT)
6. Initial climb – aerodynamic stall, spin
7. Enroute – VFR encounter with IMC
8. Enroute-cruise – loss of control in flight
9. Maneuvering, low altitude flying – loss of control in flight
10. Maneuvering, low altitude flying – collision with terrain/object (non-CFIT)
