Re: Light-Sport Aircraft Yahoo group Standard category LSA

Joe,

'standard category' and 'S-LSA' (or E-LSA) aircraft are NOT the same thing.
Standard Category aircraft are approved by the FAA.
S-LSA/E-LSA aircraft are those that meet the parameters of the ASTM guidelines
for LSA aircraft and have a corresponding 'statement of compliance' from the
manufacture.

However, a standard category aircraft that meets all the restrictions of LSA
(MTOW, only 2 persons/seats, max S&L speed, max stall speed, no constant speed
prop, single engine, etc) can be flown by a sport pilot.
