Re: Light-Sport Aircraft Yahoo group Still unclear about amphibious landing sites

In actuality, most of the bases marked on the charts, at least here in
the Mid-Atlantic, are no longer active and are in disrepair.
Fortunately and amphib such as the SeaRey isn't dependent on bases. You
can beach or ramp (need a double wide ramp) a SeaRey at a marina, stop
at an airport, drop into a grass field, or moor to a buoy a Secrets bar
in Ocean City.

But beyond that about all I've heard is that you need permission from the lakeowner on private property, which sounds reasonable for little private lakes. Yes I know that Alaska is pretty much a mecca for float planes.(haven't studied details) But a CFI told me the other day that rivers were often a good spot.

The FAA doesn't concern itself with matters once you're out of the air. I guess you just have to be fast enough to outrun the game warden, huh? LOL!
