Light-Sport Aircraft Yahoo group PiperSport

I have read through various (I believe to be reliable) sources that the FAA may soon start allowing pilots with a sport pilot certificate (or something similar to a sport pilot certificate) to fly larger aircraft (I have read that it might extend to aircraft as large as 6000 pounds), and would still not require a medical to fly the larger aircraft.

Has anyone else heard about this possible future development?

Do you think that this might be another large reason why Piper is no longer going to be offering the PiperSport?
