I know that I should not say this but I can't constrain myself. I think that it is nostalgia that keeps the Cub alive. My bet is that most of the Cub clones available today are great improvements over the old Piper version by most any measure. The old Cub that I flew was powered by a Continental 65 hp engine, had truck-like handling qualities and every take-off with 2 people on-board kept your attention for a long time. I admit that I loved flying the thing but nostalgia, I think, played the leading role in this judgment.
