Re: Light-Sport Aircraft Yahoo group Are LSA impractical?

I have a RANS S6-ES. This plane is a good compromise of cost, speed, comfort, flying qualities, and safety.

Cost: around $45K new kit (used ~ $30 up) NTM, 4gal/hr
Speed: 110 mph (average actual ground speed)
Comfort: Leg, shoulder, and head room better than most.
Flying qualities: Easy. Like a 150, but lighter. Some say like a cub.
Safety: Feels safe, and the NTSB shows a good record.

Also, I have to say the plane will fly better in turbulence with a 200 pound passenger. Even still, I can fly in anything I used to fly in my Beechcraft Bonanza. I can fly with about anybody I can stuff inside.
