aircraft. I am thinking about hosting a fly in next year around the labor day
weekend. I am Roger Poyner in Pauls Valley, OK. We are about 50 miles south of
OKC just off I35 (about 1 mile). I just wanted to see what type of responce
there would be to hosting a fly/drive in for UL type aircraft here. Vendors and
manufactures would be welcome as well as any UL aircraft vintage or otherwise.
No sign up fees for either and I think I can get media coverage to cover the
event. On site camping is available as well as the local motels (several
options on this). I will talk to the airport board about costs but think they
could be fair and payable thru a whole pig roast luau type dinner. The airport
has a 4,000' main runway, no control tower, light traffic and a full service
FBO. The Labor day weekend tends to be around the temp change with few
thunderstorms. I just wanted to get an idea of how many people would be
interested in attending a Thursday throu Sunday event. The focus would be on
vintage ULs and include competition events for fun but be open to all types of
aircraft. One idea that has been brought up is having 3 or 4 flyins across the US linked by the internet for photos and scoring of competition events. I like this idea and I think it would boost public awareness and just promote the sport. Anyone have any thoughts? Roger Poyner
