You are right,(12.500) but from financial and safety point of view it is great idea. For $25,000 we may have good trainer with good engine and good reputation. Insurance will be lot cheaper and we will support local economy.

haha.  But seriously, your point is spot on.  I don't care what number is chosen, someone always has an example that should be included and it's only a couple of pounds more.

For what its worth, the FAA originally proposed 1,232 lbs for LSAs. the FAA in their final rule raised the limit to the current 1,320 we have now. They had to draw the line somewhere. If you increase the weight to C-152 limits, guaranteed, someone will be out there asking for "just a little more weight" for another model of a plane, that is "just a little" over the 152 limits. Where would it end?
