I don't know but people claiming one engine is less reliable than the other have the burden to show the statistics not the one that's saying what is the basis of such claims.
If you can't find these statistics you can't say anything either with eventuality. If we are talking just he said she said thing then I'll add that I have seen just as many major problems in my experience with Conti and Lyc as with Rotax 912 series of engines adjusted for flight unit hours of course. That's my personal measuring tool.

Having said that Mike Blyth and his co-pilot made it to Hawaii flying over open ocean for 21.5 hours with their sling aircraft powered by (you guessed it) Rotax 912ULS.
