LSA
What you're talking about above is for "commercial" only... not so?
For "Private Pilot", the applicant would need to show his 40 hours in
Category.
Eg; an Airplane student wanting a PP Cert would have to show his 40 hours in
ASEL,
His WSC time or helicopter time not counting towards the total.
--61.109 says 40 hrs total, but 20 dual and 10 solo of that must be in an
airplane. The other 10 can be in whatever. Thw entire 40 doesn't need to
be in category, just 30. I think it's probably rare that option is
exercised at the Private level, but read 61.109(a) closely. So your trike
time does count.
Next question:
What is "PP LSA time"?
I'm guessing you mean airplane time done while flying a LSA.
And in that case, surely that time needs no special treatment?...
Those are "Airplane Hours" which count towards a Comm Certificate?
(as I see it)
--Sorry, that's the problem with trying to abbreviate. I meant Powered
Parachute. Those hours count toward a Commercial Certificate as well. Just
like balloon, glider, trike, airships, helicopters, etc. For a Commercial
airplane, you need 250 hours, 100 of which must be in powered aircraft of
which 50 must be in airplanes. This means the applicant could have 150
hours of balloon time, 50 hours of trike time, and 50 hours of airplane time
and meet the min qualifications. And of that 50 hours, most of it could be
in LSA. Not all, because the checkride is done in a complex aircraft so
you'd have to have enough complex time to be proficient.
