Light-Sport Aircraft Yahoo group Re: Skyboy info?

Hi Dan,
On that note ... I was at Lockwood Aviation in Sebring yesterday and saw two Flight Design CT's being fixed. One was getting a new nose gear that connects directly to the engine mount and when nose gear gives, it actually ovals the mount holes on the engine mount as well and does a number on taking the carbon fiber firewall. However, to get there and do that damage .... well the pilot must have done some kind of landing ... or should I say crash. It would take much more than prescribed landing loads to get it to that stage. So it didn't seem weak on the machine but rather on the pilot technique.

I asked them about it and they pointed to the main gear. They said this is the new style. It was all carbon fiber very heavy duty looking main gear. The mechanic said CT switched to this because a bunch of US pilots from GA were piling them in and bending original Aluminum hollow gear. I looked at one of the old landing gears that was bent by a CT pilot .... holy crap. If you are bending that thing, you should get further training.
