Light-Sport Aircraft Yahoo group Re: lease back

Yes Rotax specific "experience" or "training" from any source is needed. Plain and simple.
The manufacturer of the aircraft decides what the owner can do to the Rotax engine installed on their aircraft not Rotax.
Many manufacturers refer to the Rotax maintenance manual. That German translated document isn't exactly clear to understand but in that case whatever it says goes.

I don't know many personal aircraft owners who can even change their car oil. I don't know why they would think they should be changing their aircraft oil then.

However, this does not apply to light sport repairmen or owners wishing to do preventative mx like changing their oil. They still need to go to school every two years.

Both have the same "you must have prior experience" requirements. I thought the whole point of this was that the FAA decides what level of certification is acceptable (A&P or repairman/maintenance), not Rotax. Hmmmm... that doesn't sound too logical.
