RE: Light-Sport Aircraft Yahoo group garmin 396 has airport map???

The 496 also has the private airports and a faster refresh rate for the “panel” page.

It is virtually identical to the 496. Does have public airports. Does
not have taxiways. I don't think it's quite as easy to use in your car
for road work as a 496 from what I'm told but I haven't ever needed that
function since I am female and readily ask for directions.

Only other major difference is that you will need to void your warranty
and manually remove the magnets that are in the 396 wx puck if you wish
to put the puck on top of your panel and still be able to use your
compass. 496 puck is sans magnets.
