Re: Light-Sport Aircraft Yahoo group Cessna SkyCatcher completes ASTM complia...

In addition to the Skycatcher's "is it finally fixed / can we really trust it now" spin issue is whether they will be offering Lycoming's soon to be certified IO-233 LSA engine in it. By the time Cessna finally offers the Skycatcher for sale ( late 2009 ) it won't be that much longer that the Lycoming engine becomes certified ( per Lycoming 1st Quarter of 2010 ).

It would look awfully hypocritical of Lycoming to be pushing other LSA manufacturers to buy their LSA engine while their own sister company Cessna only offers a competitors engine, the Continental O-200 in the Skycatcher. Does this mean the first couple of months production of Skycatchers will have Continentals and then post 1st quarter 2010 the rest will have Lycomings ?

At best it looks to be an example of poor timing and planning on Cessna's part.
