Re: Light-Sport Aircraft Yahoo group Cessna SkyCatcher completes ASTM complia...

I've enjoyed the discussion and come down on the side that says that
certainly LSA should be able to fly IFR. If Sport Pilot is to help
open the door for those on the way up, then buying a nice IFR equipped
LSA would make good sense. The limitation is on the Certificate
holder. The LSA has limitations set for weight, speed, ect.

Remember this from the FAA? ...

"Require 1 hour of flight training on the control and maneuvering of
an airplane solely by reference to instruments for student pilots
seeking a sport pilot certificate to operate an airplane with a VH
greater than 87 knots CAS and sport pilots operating airplanes with a
VH greater than 87 knots CAS."

It would make this training easier to do if the aircraft were equipped
for it.
