They got an SLSA certified, now the builders can register their kit-built RV12's as ELSA. If you remember back a few months, the RV12 kit builders were begining to have issues with registering their planes as Experimental/amatuer-built because the kit was TOO complete and may not meet the intentions of the Exp/AB category. Now they can be registered as ELSA's and not have to try to show that the builder did 51% of the work. This is a GOOD thing :)
Vans said earlier that they were only going to sell kits, not SLSA's, so you won't be able to buy an SLSA RV12 for your school... at least not yet. Now that the plane has passed SLSA certification, an aircraft manufacturer might make a deal for the right to produce them. THAT would be worth considering!!!!
