Re: Light-Sport Aircraft Yahoo group Is everyone here to bash Skycatchers?

I'm not interested in buying one but I like the Sky Catcher and while I prefer to keep my money here in the USA that line greyed years ago. Import cars made here, US cars made over there. US companies own businesses over seas and vice a versa. Who could blame Cessna it makes financial sense for them.

While I don't think this is the place for political discussions I feel I need to mention that cooperate/political greed have been eating away at our grand country for a 100 years so.

I Prefer to buy American but Value when's out these days.

I drive Jeep made in Toledo OH (amazingly enough) m wife a Mazda. Guess which one costs less to maintain

While I don't agree with Chinas politics and laws I am fascinated with where they are at now. They are experiencing capitalism growth like never before. Like was stated Aviation is booming there but so is everything else, more Mercedes were sold there last year than any other country. They have more honor students than we have students. Of course that is just by shear volume of people, but regardless of why of they are on a faster track than we are on all Levels. I often think I would like to go visit China and maybe get involved in an Aviation business there.

Sorry I went a bit long.

My LSA is American made. I'm building a Zenith STOL CH 750 in my garage.
If someone said They would give me any manufactured LSA I want I would most likely pick a Flight Design CTLS made in the Ukraine. Another great little airplane.

Here are a couple of considerations:

1. We do bemoan the fact that most LSA aircraft are made in Europe.

2. Western Europe handicaps themselves with way worse labor laws and
benefits that we do (though we are currently rushing to overtake them).
I can't address the labor laws of Eastern Europe, perhaps someone else can.

3. Europe pays much higher wages than does China.

Me, I'd rather buy a less great (but still safe) plane made in the
U.S.A. than any plane made overseas. Oh, but wait, I did that. I guess
there's an extra bitterness about Cessna, once the world powerhouse in
making small planes (IN the U.S.) now importing from China.

My biggest moan about U.S. manufacturing of planes is due to the
American junkyard dog legal liability system and the horrendous costs
that imposes on American manufacturers - but not equally on overseas
manufacturers.

The overwhelming ratio of bad comments to good might relate to the lack
of people available to say something good about the Skycatcher. That's
your mission, Mr. Phelps. As always, if any of your team are captured . . .

No hard feelings on my part.
